Here is a realistic situation religious orders often face. Vocation promoters at times complain that the candidates they took so much trouble to recruit are sent away. The formators, however, have four options, as this article explains.
My name is Sr Rejani. I am the vocation promoter in my province. We had a group of twelve novices. Three of them left before completing the formation. On completion of the novitiate period, two have their profession postponed and one is dismissed. It is with much difficulty that I go around and promote vocations. When I see the results, I feel discouraged. Would you please explain why things end up in this fashion? Is it a common phenomenon in all formation houses?
