The religious media in the U.S. and Europe are hailing a Dominican friar who came to the limelight a few weeks ago, thanks to his interview published in a highly popular photo-blog on Facebook. Called ‘Humans of New York’ (HONY), this blog was started in November 2010 by a photographer named Brandon Stanton, who photographed and interviewed people he met in the streets of New York. The blog later led to a bestselling book and a charity that has raised and donated thousands of dollars for philanthropic initiatives.

When Fr William (Bill) Holt, O.P., an 80-year-old Dominican priest, was walking down Park Avenue, New York, Brandon stopped him to ask, “Can I ask you something?” Fr Holt said, “Sure.” Brandon said, “I have met many unhappy priests.” Fr Holt replied, “Well, I’m sorry you have. But I’m not that.”
